Milo settles into a Toronto condo

The question we hear most often from city buyers is whether a Maine Coon is too big for an apartment. Milo, who left us at sixteen weeks and now lives twenty-two floors above downtown Toronto, is our standing answer. What a Maine Coon needs is not floor space but vertical space, structured play and a household that is around often enough to keep him social.
His family set up a tall cat tree beside the balcony window before he arrived, plus two wall shelves that let him cross the living room without touching the ground. Within a week he had claimed the top platform as his afternoon spot. Twice-daily wand sessions, ten minutes each, burn off the energy that would otherwise turn into 6 a.m. zoomies.
At fourteen months Milo weighs just under sixteen pounds and still follows his people from room to room. His family sends us photos every few months, and the pattern in them is the one we hope for: a big, calm cat who is always in the same room as somebody.
